ABOUT AUCKLAND BASKETBALL SERVICES:
Auckland Basketball Services (ABSL) acts as the lead Regional Sports Organisation (RSO), providing professional services for the administration of basketball on behalf of its three key shareholders: Counties-Manukau Basketball Association, Waitakere West Auckland Basketball Association and Basketball Auckland Inc. ABSL is responsible for the development and delivery of basketball across a wide range of activities including events, leagues, competitions, skills development, and representative pathways.
ROLE SUMMARY:
As Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for providing the vision, leadership and management of the day-to-day business, as well as the delivery of the agreed strategic plan.
You will develop strong relationships and partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholder groups including the 3 shareholders, Basketball New Zealand, other relevant Basketball Associations, Sport New Zealand, Regional Sport Trusts, Auckland Council, Aktive Auckland, Gaming Trusts and other funding organisations.
You will demonstrate strong commercial acumen with ability to solve problems, identify new revenue streams and implement new systems to help improve the operational effectiveness of the organisation and ensure financial sustainability. You will develop innovative solutions and build an internal culture that is focused on growing the participation, popularity and enjoyment of basketball across the region.
ABOUT YOU:
- An innovative sports management professional with experience of leading diverse and passionate teams.
- Outstanding relationship management skills with the ability to navigate differing stakeholder needs and support multiple, sometimes complex agendas.
- A leadership style that focuses on building a strong, effective team with clear direction and a commitment to achieving agreed objectives and inspiring excellence.
- Excellent communication, planning and presentation skills.
- Strategic and commercial business nous with a sound understanding of sponsorship, community funding and/or marketing would be an advantage.
- A passion and interest in basketball is highly desirable.
